Tuesday's Headliners

Ben Roethlisberger underwent an emergency appendectomy and is expected to miss at least one game. The demise of my fantasy season begins already.

The Florida Marlins are above .500, truly remarkable considering their payroll is less than 6 Yankee players' salaries. They are only 2 games out of the Wild Card. Rumor has it that Manager of the Year candidate Joe Girardi will likely be fired after the season and take the Cubs job. I think he called the team owner a cheap bastard or something.

Team USA finished third in the World Championships, demolishing my credibility as a Sports Blogger.

College Football started this past week. FSU-Miami and Rutgers-UNC were the games that I actually watched. Rutgers could be the dark horse in the Big East with Louisville's Bush going down (did that sound weird?).

Agassi's run at the US Open ended, but the A-Rod of tennis is still alive. Roddick keeps winning under the tutelage of Jimmy Connors.

The Crocodile Hunter was killed by a sting ray this weekend. He did a commercial for ESPN so this is sports related. He gave us a lot of good TV over the years, its a shame to see him go.
