Thursday's Headliners

DC United, the top team in the US played world powerhouse Real Madrid to a 1-1 tie. Another good sign for American soccer. Madrid touts names such as Van Nistelrooy, Anthony Cassano, Roberto Carlos, Emerson, Robinho, Fabio Cannavaro, Cicinho, Raul, and Beckham.

Randy Johnson was so 1998 for innings 1-6 and so 2006 when he lost his no-no in the 7th/. The good news for him is the team won.

Yanks have a cushy 3 game division lead. Twinkies now lead Wild Card with Boston 1.5 behind.

Mike Piazza kind of made Mets fans feel weird about cheering him after hitting his second home run of the game. He actually got a curtain call from Mets fans on the first one, but everyone seemed be be pissed off after the second. Mets escape 4-3 after HillBilly Wager almost blows it...again.

Mets lead division by 13.5, NL by 7.5.

LaVar Arrington will miss the Giants first preseason game with a sore right knee. Let's hope this isn't a recurring theme.
